Description
**Purpose**
When Building *FR106* I was not sure how to deal with big wheels and only had building experience on normal wheels. As a result, Some features of cars with normal wheels are inappropriately introduced to it.
+ Flat main armor, only 2 ~ 3 blocks high
+ Chassis overall higher tha the connecting point of the wheels. no bottom armor.
+ 5 takes interval Circular interconnected wheel triforces.
Cause problems:
+ Guns not well protected. 4 of the guns have a 'L' shape bracket, which is exposed and fragile.
+ Wheel mounting threads are messy and excessive, intruding into armor's space. The car is extraordinarily crispy at low HP.
+ Wheels easily be drilled off by flat fire because there are rarely armors on the level of their connecting point.
*FR111* is an attempt to solve these problems.
**Macro**
To protect the gun mounts, I have to ensure there is armor directly under every gun. This requires a series of vertical bend considering that some guns are above the wheel tires and the radius of large wheel is really large. I referred to KptKosmit91's large wheel car. It has obvious fenders. I guess this kind of 'fender' is one of the optimal pattern of the armor layout of large wheels.
The bottom of the casssis is one block lower than the connecting point of the wheels, although this level is not filled by armor. There is only a rectalgle frame align with the boundary providing horizonal protection. I will also try to see if this layer is rescissible in future builds.
On *FR111* armor has a shape of low in the middie and high on both sides. The CPU budget is really tight wwhile building this lagre car. I have changed the armor distribution many times to find the appropriate way. At first armor near the center is not enough. The seat was dirlled pretty early with large chunks of chassis remaining on the side in PVE tests. I carefully trimed the fender to ensure it is 1 block thick everywhere and using the saved CPU to strengthen the center.
**Triforce**
Since the triforce method for conventional cars is not working well for large wheels. I decide to treat the trifroce the way that heavy units like tanks and mechs are using. Large wheel are similar to these kind of movements: they are big, and with multiple connecting points.
Wheel mounting threads are simplifyed. The wheel interconnection along the length are now straight, only 3 blocks minimum. The connecting point between threads and armor is only 1 block from the connecting point of wheel if they have. and the another end of threads are either another wheel or weapon.
Seat mounts are separated from the wheel mounts. All of the 6 ends of the seat mounting threads are connected to armor.
**Evaluation**
After testing it in PVE battles, I found 2 weakness.
+ Losing guns fast. 3 guns on the first row are directly mounted on the edge of a 1 block thick board. Back guns are also somehow fragile. I can spare no CPU to improve this on the current chassis.
+ limited plunging fire. bullets being blocked especially engaging with flat unitss such as conventional cars and sleds. Maybe large wheel car is too high to use a [RS81](https://robocraftgarage.shaf.fun/lists/15) gun arrangement.
Besides the survivability at low HP is good. It has unexpectedly escape from daanger many times. That is because armor between wheel tires is really thick. I am considering reducing this part of armor to reinforce the gun mounts.
